For me a pleated skirt is a complete staple in my wardrobe. Come Spring I am the first to throw on one for a smarter alternative to jeans. Within my wardrobe I probably own about 5 or 6 midi pleated skirts, which may be a tad excessive, (okay very excessive) but it's always good to have variety - it is the spice of life!

I thought given my large collection and love for them as a staple in my wardrobe I would write up a little post. Read on to see my tips for styling them in the Spring;

  • In my opinion a pleated skirt can be teamed with many footwear styles; from Stan smiths to heeled boots they can take a pleated skirt from daytime casual to a more dressy occasion in the evening.
  • For a casual outfit option I tend to team my pleated skirts with a pair of Stan smiths to give my outfit a modern edge.
  • For a bit more of a statement look for Spring I tend to wear pleated skirts with trainers or a pointed statement shoe or slipper and If the skirt is overly patterned, I always make sure that the shoe isn't too fussy - to avoid looking like I've ransacked a fancy dress shop.
  • For an evening outfit I always pair my midi skirts with a pair of pointed or statement boots. This gives the outfit an edge and I always feel a pointed boot can make petite girls like me appear taller.
  • In the Summer time shoe wise I always go for heels for an evening option. I think heeled mules or lace up pointed heels can look amazing with a pleated midi and gives the outfit an air of sophistication and style.
  • For a daytime option in the Summer I would pick a pair of sandals to keep it casual or opt for a backless loafer for an on trend but practical choice.

I know that sometimes styling a midi pleated skirt can be a bit tricky so hopefully the above helps a little with some style inspiration.
Also as a side note the above snaps were taken in Poundbury, a little town next to Dorchester in Dorset. Anyone who lives in Dorset or is in the local area on holiday needs to check out this cute little place! They have the best independent shops: from womenswear to homeware they will have you covered. I will pop up a little post about the stores you need to check out soon!

Organic makeup has been on my radar since 2012 when I did my final major project at University on natural cosmetics. It is something I have always taken an interest in and I think that as people are now increasingly aware of the nasties that can be found in makeup, the popularity of organic and natural cosmetics is only increasing. However looking for alternative products that still offer great formulas, strong pigments and quality can be tricky. I've tried a number of different organic cosmetic products and haven't been majorly overwhelmed by many, mainly because of the formula and poor packaging. However, when my sister introduced me to Green People last year I was intrigued, they have everything from body products to cosmetics and every product I have tried so far I have loved.

So when Green People got in contact with me about their new velvet matte lipstick I was super excited and once I had tried it I was sold. The lipstick is a game changer for the organic beauty scene, the shade is so beautiful and the perfect nude for my skin tone. With its pink-rose undertones and moisturising formula, I was really impressed! I often find that natural lipsticks can be quite hard to apply and drying, but this lipstick has a non-drying formula that is enriched with sustainable beeswax and organic carnauba wax to keep lips nourished. The lipstick is made with natural earth minerals and is cruelty-free as well as free from artificial colours.

Green People also sent me one of their lovely lip primers which is the perfect base for a nude lipstick, plus the primer helps your lipstick last longer - which is always great! I was also very impressed by the sleek packaging on both of the products, they feel really luxurious.

Green People are definitely a brand you need on your radar, they have been producing organic personal care since 1997 and were instrumental in founding the first standards in natural and organic cosmetics. Their passion for natural and organic skincare offers high-performance products and they believe that nature and science go hand in hand. Plus Green People's products are never tested on animals and never contain SLS/SLES, parabens, lanolin, phthalates and many other nasties!

These lipsticks have really made me assess my makeup collection and made me think that I should start investing in natural cosmetics more and more as there are some really great brands who are competing with your traditional makeup brands and being hugely successful! - I shall keep you updated on my natural beauty purchases of course!

Green People's Velvet Matte Lipstick in shade Damask Rose is available to buy here and priced at £15.
