The Real Greek - Bournemouth

A few weeks ago my sister and I took a little visit to the new The Real Greek in the BH2 complex in Bournemouth for some dinner*. With the weather being its classic British self-pouring down with rain, Greek food was warmly welcomed.

It is great that Bournemouth has upped its game with its restaurant offering as with leaving London I was concerned (it involved food so naturally I was worried) about the lack of variety in foodie places on the south coast. So with The Real Greek being one of my favourite restaurants when I lived in London, when I heard it was coming to Bournemouth it seemed like more than perfect timing.

If you have not been to The Real Greek before, it is basically Greek tapas where you can order between 3 to 4 mezes per person for a sharing feast! Each of the dishes come served on these spectacular towers.

To drink my sister and I both went for some fresh juices which were a nice accompaniment to all the food we were going to eat! And for the food we went for the Peloponnese sharer as it had many of the dishes that we were super keen to try, plus a side of the delicious aegan slaw. When the food arrived we didn't quite know where to put it all! This just meant that we had to tuck in quickly so we had space to talk across the table. But I have to say the food is so fresh and tasty and it makes a nice change going out for something a bit different that is also very well priced (our sharer was £32.50 for two).

Out of all the dishes we tried the lamb kefte was a firm favourite, it had so much flavour and the meat was beautifully cooked, plus this teamed with some houmous and Greek salad was so flavoursome and delicious.

My other favourite which really surprised me was the Dolmades, as I'm not normally the biggest fan of vine leaves, but I loved the rice that they were stuffed with, which was super light and fluffy!

The only negative about the meal was that I couldn't order any halloumi, as they had run out! But I know that they are known for their amazing halloumi, so maybe it was a very popular day for this!

We finished off our meal with some luxury ice-cream which was oh so creamy and the perfect end to a fab meal.

Overall, I would definitely recommend a visit to The Real Greek Bournemouth. The service and food were equally great and the restaurant itself had a really nice atmosphere with very attentive staff who were made sure any questions you had about the dishes were answered.
The restaurant itself looks out over the trees in Bournemouth Gardens and outside there is a terrace where you can eat/drink out on. Inside the restaurant, it has a modern yet Meditteranean feel interior and you can see the Chef's cooking away in the open kitchen, which I always like in a restaurant as it only adds to the ambience.

I will definitely be popping back to The Real Greek for another Greek feast! - Do let me know if you take a visit!

*Thank you to the lovely people at The Real Greek for inviting me to try their lovely new restaurant!
