In June I was invited to the launch event of the new No. 34 restaurant at the recently renovated Orchid hotel in Bournemouth. The hotel has a contemporary and stylish feel and the restaurant is equally as elegant with its copper lighting and retro furnishings.
No.34 offers Michelin Star cooking and boasts a high-quality menu by celebrated Michelin-starred Head Chef Jean Gysemans, famous for his creative use of seasonal and local ingredients

The launch evening began with bespoke No.34 Bellini's on entrance and a delicious array of entrees. Then it was on to dinner which, when I saw the menu I was very excited for. I decided to go for the twice baked cheddar cheese souffle for my starter which was beautifully light and fluffy. I think cheese souffle can sometimes be a bit of a gamble and can be too rich for a starter but this was beautifully cooked.

For my main course I went with the Lamb Navarin which was served with seasonal vegetables and new potatoes and was a lovely summery, fresh dish and one that I would definitely pick again but next time I would maybe have some mash on the side! - you can't beat a bit of mash.

To finish off the meal and for the best course, dessert, I had apple tatin and salted caramel ice cream. This dessert was gorgeous and although I found the tatin texture a little strange it did taste amazing and the salted caramel ice cream made the flavours really pop.

I would definitely recommend No.34 for a dinner out as the food is so fresh and they have a beautifully curated menu that is suited for a wide range of dietary requirements and would be perfect for a celebration or Birthday dinner.  No.34 is definitely on the must-dine Dorset foodie map.
