The Denim Pencil Skirt Pt.2

A few weeks ago I popped up a post featuring this new denim H&M number which I couldn't get enough of. I mentioned that I would pop up a part 2 that featured another styling idea for this denim skirt and my tips on how to get the optimum use out of a staple in your suitcase when you are on your holibobs.

I have to say I am not one to pack lightly, but I am getting better with time (baby steps). When I am away I still like to have options and I want to feel nice in what I wear by having variety. I find the best thing to do is to take key pieces away such as this denim skirt (or maybe some navy culottes, a neutral midi/mini skirt, linen trousers or cotton dress) and style them up or down depending on the time of day or occasion, so that you can get optimum use out of the same garment.

Say for instance this denim skirt, in my previous post (click here to read pt.1) I teamed this skirt with a ruffled gingham top, metallic sandals and some gold coin earrings for a day to evening outfit, not only practical for climbing over rocks to get to a beach bar but also super summery and on trend!

In the below shots I styled the same skirt with this amazing swimsuit for a beach day, (a Kini dupe from Sainsbury's, unfortunately this is sold out now but Topshop have a few similar crochet swim items - I have linked these below) a ASOS linen shirt tied around the waist, my trusty pop pom basket bag from TK MAXX, Birkenstocks, some gold H&M coin earrings and my Ray Ban Clubmaster sunnies.

I believe the key is all in the accessories and the items that you pair with that staple to make each outfit you wear completely individual and different. A statement pair of earrings or metallic shoes can really make that beach appropriate outfit pop ready for a sangria filled evening! Or a pair of Birkenstocks or white Vans can make a jazzy cotton dress day appropriate for a day trip out.

This outfit was perfect for a relaxing day on the beach and around the shops especially with the added edition of the linen shirt, as with my sun intolerant skin, I need something to cover my shoulders and protect them from the Spanish sun! #redheadedprobs
